On a sweltering summer day, your first instinct might be to jump into the nearest body of cold water as fast as you can. That could be a dangerous mistake.
It cost Cameron Gosling his life. In July 2015, the 14-year-old boy jumped into the River Wear, just outside of Durham, England, and never resurfaced. His drowning was caused by cold water shock. Now his mother, Fiona Gosling, 39, has begun working with the local county government to warn people of the dangers of cold bodies of water.
